We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our father, Ronald Philip Byers, age 77 of Charleston, SC on December 21, 2023. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service, at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Dad had a passion for writing, golfing, people, musical theatre and traveling. He was a successful business owner, poet, songwriter, and philanthropist. He discovered his true passion when he began helping others learn a new way of life and founded the Charleston Recovery Center. He was a well loved member of the community.
He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Byers Quirsfeld; three daughters, Sally Byers Calejo, Lisa Byers Fontaine, Jessica Byers; four grandchildren, Becky Calejo, Anthony Calejo, Dallas Fontaine, Cristian Fontaine; three nephews, Scott Quirsfeld, Mark Quirsfeld & Chris Quirsfeld.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Byers, Irene Byers; brother-in-law, John Quirsfeld; granddaughter, Kara Calejo. He will be missed.
