Ronald Coy Cagle of Canton, Georgia, passed peacefully with his family by his side on December 27, 2022, at the age of 77.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2pm in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with Pastor Monty Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of service.
Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963, where he served his country with pride as a Sergeant First Class E7 drill instructor at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous honors and served as an Honor Guard in his unit.
After discharge from military service, Ron worked for Pitney Bowes in sales and was one of the top national sales representatives for twenty years. He received the prestigious National Sales Award from the Governor of Tennessee for outstanding work.
Ron coached little league baseball, loved girls' fast softball, was a youth director at his church and was president of his neighborhood association in Birmingham, Alabama. His contributions to his community are too numerous to list.
He retired three times during his life but simply would not stop working. He loved people and being involved. Before his passing, he was still working five days per week, 10-12 hours per day.
For those of you who knew Ron, you will remember his wit, charm, that twinkle in his eyes, his orneriness, his great smile, and his fast, loud cars, especially Mustangs and Corvettes. He was a force to be reckoned with and larger than life. You always knew where you stood with him, and the first time you met him, you were instantly bonded for life, whether you liked it or not. He cared deeply for his family, especially his grandchildren and friends. We are grateful for the time that he was ours and thankful that he is now healed and with God.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric Cagle, his parents Betty Lotspeich and A.J. Cagle, and his brother James Cagle. Those left to cherish their memories of him are his wife, Joy Cagle, to whom he was married for 55 years; his daughter Kim Triola; his sister Brenda Keener and her partner Cindy Clayton; and grandsons Devenn Cagle Triola and wife Misty Littler, Jon Cagle and wife Emily Hedges, Gregory Triola and wife Taylor Brothers, and Bryland Manis; granddaughters Nikki Cagle Banks, Gina Cagle and Hayden Manis; great grandchildren Eric, Harrison, and Letti, and his two dogs, Max and Dexter.
The family is incredibly grateful for the love and care from such special friends and neighbors who ran errands, kept us fed, checked up on us, and ran over to assist at a moment's notice.
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cagle family.
