Ronald Carter Obituary

Dr. Ronald T. Carter, D.D.S., peacefully passed away on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the unwavering love of his family, following a courageous and resilient battle with liver cancer. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Susan C. (née Sybert) Carter; devoted father of Brent Carter and his wife Lindsay, Erin Gran, Sara Carter and her wife Katie, and Laura Savarese and her husband Chris. He was a cherished and deeply adored Pop Pop to Elise Gran, Stella Carter, Preston Gran, Tessa Carter, Benson Carter, Antonella Savarese, and Burke Carter, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Born on December 29, 1949, Ron was the treasured son of the late Edwin Charles and Antoinette Ida (née Czyz) Carter. He is survived by his loving sister and brother, Denise Scharpf and her husband Richard, and Gary Carter and his wife Julie. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues, and the countless patients whose lives he touched with compassion and professionalism.

Ron proudly served in the United States Navy before pursuing his lifelong passion for dentistry. As a dedicated dentist for over 40 years, he cared for his patients with genuine kindness, skill, and integrity—always supported by a devoted staff who stood by him throughout his career.

A man of many talents, Ron loved music and spent years sharing that joy as a keyboard player with his band, “Ain’t misbehavin’.” He enjoyed traveling, cooking, and tackling any project that required creativity or craftsmanship. Whether building dollhouses, repairing his children’s homes, crafting jewelry, or even assembling grandfather clocks, Ron approached every task with steady hands and a full heart. His determination and warrior strength were equally evident in his battle with cancer; he bravely chose to be the first participant in a clinical trial with the hope of helping others and contributing to a future cure.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ron at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road in Kingsville, on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Church of the Nativity, followed by entombment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: CURESEARCH for Children's Cancer or the University of Maryland School of Dentistry causes close to Ron’s heart.

The Carter family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time. Ron will be dearly missed and his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
