LOUISVILLE – Ronald D. Casey, 77, peacefully passed away Friday evening, August 29, 2025 at his home.

Ron was born on December 12, 1947 in Watertown, the son of the late William Henry and Betty (Backus) Casey. He was a 1966 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School. Following graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on November 6, 1969. He married Elizabeth Smith while home on leave in December 1967 at St. Lawrence Church, Louisville with Rev. George Tobin, officiating.

After his discharge, he worked construction before starting at General Motors, where he continued for 17 years. He then worked for Walsh Trucking for 8 years before starting with the New York State Department of Transportation as an equipment operator, retiring in 2010. Ron was a member of the Norfolk American Legion and AMVETS Post #4. He had a great love for tractors and enjoyed welding, saw and blade sharpening, and was an avid Yankees baseball fan. Ron had a very generous heart and would be the first to lend a hand to a family, friend, or neighbor in need.

Ron is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Anthony Casey of Louisville and Rochelle Casey (Josh Raymonda) of Norwood; his grandchildren, Taylor and Jeremy Raymonda; his sister, Marilyn (Charles) LaDue of Norfolk, his brothers, Gary Casey of Norfolk and Gerald (Yvonne) Benway of Raymondville; his sister-in-law, Beverly Benway of Raymondville; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Florence LaPoint and his brother, Gilbert Genway.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena where friends may call on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 11:00 AM until time of the service at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.

In lieu of flowers those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in his memory to Helping Hands of Louisville, c/o Eleanor Hurlbut, 789 CR 39, Massena; Louisville Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 22, Massena; or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam.
