Ronald Louis Cooper, age 81, passed away in Merryville, Louisiana on Thursday, the 20th day of November 2025. Ronald Louis was born July 16, 1944 to parents Louis Cooper Jr. and Gussie Slaydon Cooper in DeRidder, LA. Ronald is preceded in death by wife of 48 years Jean W. Cooper, his parents Louis Cooper, Jr and Gussie Slaydon Cooper, and infant brother Gary Lynn Cooper.
Ronald finished Merryville High School as Valedictorian of his class, and earned his BS degree in chemical engineering from McNeese State University. Following service to his country in the U.S. Army, Ronald began a 39 year career with Halliburton Oil Services.
Ronald met the love of his life, Jean Williams, and they were married on March 31, 1972. Ronald’s passion was the petroleum industry, family, and spending time at the family farm in Merryville.
Ronald is survived by his son Ronnie Cooper and wife Mandelin of Montgomery, Texas, and son DeWayne Rolen and wife Michelle of Palestine, Texas. Ronald is also survived by sisters Lillian Karr, June Reviel, Betty Garanzuay, brother James Stephen Cooper and wife Myreta, grandchildren Angela and Julia Cooper, Danielle Buchanan and spouse Phillip, and Caleb Rolen.
Friends are invited to a visitation with family from three o’clock until 6 o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 28th of November 2025 at Grace Church.
Services to celebrate Ronald Cooper’s life will be conducted at 10 am on Saturday, the 29th of November 2025 at Grace Church followed by laying Ronald to rest at the Cooper Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Brother George Glass will be presiding.
Serving as pallbearers are Dale Beard, Pard Stark, Ken Reviel, Weldon Karr, Cory Cooper, Caleb Rolen, and Phillip Buchanan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ronald’s memory can be directed towards The American Heart Association or to Calvary Baptist in Merryville, LA.
Funeral services for Ronald Cooper will be held at Grace Church 1021 W First St DeRidder, LA 70634.
