Ronald Cox Obituary

Ronald Wayne Cox – beloved husband, horse lover, and artist – passed away unexpectedly Feb. 13, 2026, in Baltimore, Md. He was 82.

Longtime residents of the Sykesville/Woodbine area, he and his wife, Diane Gail Kirchenbauer, operated Maryland Tack at their horse farm for many years. Most recently, they've sold Ron's art pieces, furniture, equestrian-themed items, and jewelry at East Main Antiques and Fine Furnishings in Westminster.

Born in Baltimore on Nov. 11, 1943, to Charles Cox and Mary Orndorf, Ron grew up in Pasadena, where he met his future wife of nearly 55 years in elementary school. They shared a lifelong passion for horses.

Ron graduated from the University of Baltimore and served in the Maryland National Guard. He retired as Director of Administrative Services at The Rouse Company in Columbia. For decades, he and his wife lived in Silver Spring and the District of Columbia before moving to the Sykesville/Woodbine area, where they could ride and care for their horses, as well as provide a home to their many beloved rescue cats.

Ron died at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore following complications from a brain injury caused by an equestrian accident.

He is survived by his wife; his brother Donald Cox (Glen Burnie, Md); and sisters Judy Pancic (Punta Gorda, Florida); and Diane Caminiti (Murphy, North Carolina).

A celebration of life is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an animal rescue, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choosing.
