Ronald Croy

Ronald Glen Croy of Phoenix, Oregon, passed away Sunday Dec. 3, 2023 at home.
Ron was born to Harold and Marie Croy on July 13, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Solon, Iowa, as one of 7 children, where he learned the value of hard work and helping others.
Ron graduated from Solon High School in 1968 where he enjoyed 4 years playing football and was named an All-State Center in 1968.
On Aug 7, 1970, Ron married his life partner and best friend, Cheryl J. Croy (Sheely). They shared 46 years together, most of them in Southern Oregon where they raised 3 children, cultivated a love of the Oregon Ducks and explored the beauty of the Pacific Northwest in Ron's beloved 1972 International "Duck Truck." Ron worked for 46 years as a diesel mechanic with
International Harvester, 35 of those with Webfoot Truck and Equipment. Ron welcomed every stranger as a friend and was eager to offer help to all who needed it. He was fondly known to many as Big Ron, Pops or Bumpa.
Ron is survived by his children Ronnie (Sheri) Croy, Jonnie (Dean-A) Croy of Phoenix, Oregon, and Tabitha Croy of Lowell, Oregon; grandchildren Huntyr & Paityn Croy, Zephyr & Emily Allen and Zachary, Brandon & Jazmine Zimmerman; 6 siblings Jim (Linda) Croy of Solon, Iowa, Pat Croy of Webster City, Iowa, Mike Croy of Solon, Iowa, Chris (Michelle) of North Liberty, Iowa, Susan (Darryl) Croy-Buss of Iowa City, Iowa and Vicky Kelso of San Antonio, Texas and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, daughter Joanna, father Harold, mother Marie and daughter-in-law Jessica Croy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Central Point, Oregon at 11:00 am. Saturday January 6, 2024, at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel. As all who knew him are aware, Ron was a huge Oregon Ducks fan, often saying "he bled green and yellow." In that spirit, the family invites attendees to wear their favorite Duck gear or Oregon Ducks colors to the memorial.
Another passion of Ron's was World War II history. He had spent much of his free time in study of the family history related to the war and the collection and documentation of related stories, photos and artifacts. He'd carefully reconstructed the paths of both his father and father-in-law's service and was expanding into extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial
