Ronald Cutright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral & Cremation Care on Aug. 12, 2024.
Ronald Lynn Cutright, born on November 15, 1948 in Buckhannon, WV, passed away on August 7, 2024 after a decades-long battle with cancer at his home in Morgantown, WV, with his wife of 50 years by his side.
The son of William and Charlotte Cutright, Ron was a graduate of Glenville High School in 1966.
After spending a year at Glenville State College, Ron enlisted in the Air Force where he served his country as a Russian linguist during the Cold War. During that time, he and two friends formed a musical group, "A Part of You," which performed for audiences in the various countries where they were stationed.
Following his years of service, Ron attended West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and two Master's Degrees in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. While studying at WVU, Ron met his wife, Jayne Feola of Buckhannon, WV, on a blind date. The two fell in love and were married on June 8, 1974, and together they had two children, Kristen and Joshua.
Ron worked with Union Carbide in Marietta, OH and in Sistersville, WV, then with the U.S. Department of Energy in Morgantown, WV, before moving with his family to Worms, Germany. There, he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense for many years while indulging in his love of travel. He often said, "Those were some of the best years of our life." In 1991, Ron resumed working for the U.S. Department of Energy
in Morgantown, WV until his retirement in 2013.
Ron enjoyed playing the guitar, traveling, cheering on the Mountaineers, playing golf and working his crossword puzzles but, more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and kids, his dogs and his six beautiful grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Papi."
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Michael Cutright. He is survived by his wife, his children and grandchildren, and his older brother, Kenneth Cutright.
As per Ron's request, no funeral or memorial service will he held. He wanted his friends and family to remember him as he was in life. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him.
