PEEBLES, Ohio — Ronald "Andy" Davenport, 75, of Peebles, left this world on Saturday, Oct. 11, 202,5 at the Ohio Valley Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center in Seaman.
He was born Aug. 7, 1950, in West Union, Ohio, to Archie and Jessie (Adams) Davenport. The youngest of six children, he was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Jessica and his siblings, Evelyn, Nola Rostine, Wilbur Eugene (Bonnie), Harry Douglas (Alvina) and Marguerite Bellew (Kenneth), also a nephew and a niece.
On Nov. 6, 1971, he married Janice Wallace of Winchester. They became the parents of baby Jessica, Eric Joseph (Shelley) of Peebles and Sara Davine Pomeroy (Sid) of Fort Thomas, Ky.
Andy and Jan were blessed with two grandsons, Keegan Joseph (and special friend Maggie Bauer) of Peebles and Jack Sutton Pomeroy of Fort Thomas, Ky. They have six step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Andy has several nieces and nephews, all loved very much.
Andy worked for the Ohio Historical Society (now known as Ohio History Connection) based at Serpent Mound from 1974 – 2003 when he retired. He operated his own electric, plumbing and repair business, Andy's Electric and Repair, for 35 years. He was a lifelong horseman, farmer and gardener. He so enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and neighbors, doing what he liked most, talking and visiting and helping out when he could. Andy made friends wherever he went.
Andy loved animals of all kinds, particularly horses and dogs. He participated in Boy Scout Troop 266 of Peebles with his son. He enjoyed showing horses with his daughter in 4-H.
Andy always had an abiding belief in God and His goodness.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 3 p.m, until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home, 216 W. Mulberry St., West Union. Pastors David Hopkins and John Niswander will officiate. The family will hold a private burial at Locust Grove Cemetery in Peebles.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jan and Andy Davenport Scholarship Fund c/o Adams County Community Foundation, PO Box 185, West Union, OH 45693 or to a cancer research/cancer fighting charity of your choice, especially for children.
