Ronald Lee Davinroy, 86, passed away surrounded by his family on February 3, 2026, in Shiloh, Illinois.

Ron was born September 7, 1939, to Leroy and Ruth (Bevirt) Davinroy in East St. Louis, Illinois. His formative years were spent growing up in rural O’Fallon, Illinois. After graduating from OTHS Class of 1957, Ron attended University of Rolla, Missouri where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation Ron enlisted in the US Navy, serving 2 years as a Naval Aviator upon USS Yorktown (CV-10) flying combat missions in Vietnam. Upon completion of his Naval service, he held several positions in the private sector focusing on engineering, problem-solving, and sales. In 1980, Ron was the candidate for United States Congress representing the Illinois 23rd Congressional District. In 1998, Ron took early retirement from his position at US Motors (Emerson Electric) becoming a financial advisor and investor for Edward Jones until his retirement in 2010.

Throughout his life, Ron was an outspoken advocate for personal liberty. He energetically engaged in conversations with others publicly and privately, wrote and published articles in local newspapers, and volunteered his time to organize and speak publicly for the advancement and preservation of Liberty for all. Ron believed in and was a strong supporter of the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution. “Freedom is the most humane condition in which a person may live” was a succinct saying of Ron’s, itself a variation of a quote by Abraham Lincoln.

Though Ron’s life centered on his family, work, and political and patriotic endeavors, he had several hobbies including golf and fishing. Errant, practice golf balls remain a common find throughout the Davinroy family farm and property.

Ron’s achievements include: State President of the Illinois Industrial Education Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, BS in Mechanical Engineering from UMR, Nuclear Weapons Ordinance Officer, US 7th Fleet Service Combat Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, ASW Order of the Centurions, torch runner for the 1996 US Olympics, Committeeman, Precinct 12 Caseyville Township, Illinois, and receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution Award.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Alice (nee Runkwitz) Davinroy, children Kimberly (the late Paul) Keller, Melissa (Bob) Rabeaux-Rosen, Paul (Bonnie) Rabeaux, Jason (Elisabeth) Davinroy, and Justin (Kathleen) Davinroy. Also surviving are his grandchildren whom he was vocally proud of and loved very much: Thomas, Matthew, Rachel, Andrew, Jakob, Molly, Shelby, Hannah, Jessica, Joseph, and Emlyn, as well as great-grandchildren, Michael and Christine. Ron is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jeanne Runkwitz, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son Kerry Glenn Mueller.

In memory of Ron, memorial donations are suggested to Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children. An online guestbook and photo tribute are available at www.wfh-ofallon.com.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2026 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 West Washington St. in O’Fallon, Illinois. Memorial Service, with military honors, will follow at 4:00 p.m.
