Nancy Keplar, nee Durham, born December 31, 1948, in East St. Louis, Ill., one of eight children born to Guy and Eldora, nee Howell, Durham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Nancy grew up in State Park, Ill. where she met the love of her life Raymond Keplar. They were married January 6, 1967. Nancy worked as a custodian at Central School in O’Fallon, retiring in 2012. In her spare time, she loved painting and pruning her flowers. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t paint. We always said, “if it sits still too long, she will paint it!” Her talent and love for painting and pruning her flowers were what she loved most and then came grandchildren. She was a proud grandma to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild whom she loved with everything she had. She loved attending their school functions, sporting events and special days and volunteering when she could. She enjoyed BBQ-ing and playing a feisty game of cornhole at her son’s home in Swansea. She enjoyed her evening ride with Ray and their two dogs Scooter and Mylo through the mounds to look at the deer and then to Dairy Haven for that strawberry/vanilla twist cone. She loved country music, especially Reba McEntire!
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her six siblings: Betty Eversgerd, Kathy Jacobs, David Durham, Jimmy Durham, Kathleen Durham, and Jack Durham.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Keplar of O’Fallon; son Scott (Judine) Keplar of Swansea, daughter Shelley (Michael) Cook of Collinsville; grandchildren Nathan, Cameron, and Katelyn Cook, Nicholas (Kristin) and Cadence Keplar; great-grandson Theodore; and brother William “Bill” (Vickie) Durham of Collinsville.
Memorial donations are suggested to Dover Hospice, 2 Ginger Creek, Glen Carbon, IL 62034 and will also be accepted at the funeral home. Online guestbook is available at www.wfh-ofallon.com.
