Ronald James "Jim" Deener, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away January 9, 2025, in Indianapolis. Born October 3, 1950, in Clinton, he was the son of William Spurgeon Deener and Thelma A. Harmon Deener.
Jim attended Turkey Run High School. He loved the outdoors, specifically fishing and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing with the neighborhood. He was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour, was fond of working crossword puzzles and participated in league bowling.
Jim is survived by his former wife, Cheryl Cochran; their daughter, Kristina Boyll of Terre Haute; and 3 grandchildren, Carter, Kayleigh and Kaitlyn Boyll. He is also survived by 8 siblings, Rita K. Jamison (Jerry) of Lafayette, Brenda G. Deener of Easley, South Carolina, Dennis Wayne Deener of Indianapolis, Michael Eugene Deener of Darlington, Julie A. Knapp (Larry) of Fort Branch, Robin E. Scott of Fort Branch, Charla S. Miller (Jason) of Indianapolis, and Keith Alan Deener of Newburgh.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Bill D. Deener, Billy Dale Deener (Infant), and Robert Deener (Infant); and brother-in-law, Richard Scott.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Marshall Baptist Church, 209 E. Guion Street, Marshall, Indiana. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation has been chosen.
Care has been entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
