Ronald Lee Discher, DDS, 78, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in his home. Ron was born on November 26, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Alfred Paul Discher and Mary Lucille (Prather) Discher. Raised in Cincinnati, he then pursued his Bachelor’s Degree at the Ohio State University and attended OSU’s College of Dentistry, receiving his DDS in 1971. Dr. Discher had a private dental practice for 41 years. He loved his Buckeyes and attended almost every home football game until his retirement in the south.

Ron married Colleen Louise in June of 1994. They continued cheering on their Buckeyes at home and even traveled to many away games and bowl games. Ron loved to exercise, be it biking, roller blading, running, or just frequenting the gym. He and Colleen together enjoyed these activities plus dancing, eating out, bowling, and traveling. But his real passion since the age of seven was golf. Ron made six hole-in-ones during his lifetime. He dearly loved the game.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Ron is survived by his son, Ryan Discher (Jennifer) of GA; daughters Heidi Oxendine of NC, Allison Flickinger (Brian) of IN, Kimberly Osburn (Jeremy) of CA, and Jessica Lavergne (Jason) of SC; nine grandchildren: Nora, Jack, Carter, Maggie, Sam, Julia, Rowan, Luke, and Aster, along with many extended family members, and lastly his faithful companion, Daisy. Ron was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriett Jill Discher, brother, Donald Discher, and sister, Shirley Potts.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Crescent Hospice of Bluffton.
