He confessed Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill U. M. Church Starkville, Mississippi and after relocating often worshipped at Rollins United Methodist Church in Tutwiler, Mississippi. Affectionately known by family as 'Ronnie," he was truly one of a kind-friendly, humorous, and someone who never met a stranger. Throughout his life, Ronald was known by various nicknames: friends from the Starkville–Golden Triangle area called him "Trapper," while those in the Mississippi Delta-Webb, Drew, Tutwiler, Sumner, and Clarksdale-knew him as "Cigar."
Ronald attended his early years of school at Oktibbeha County Webster School and completed high school at Lexington Attendance Center in Lexington, Mississippi. During his senior year, he gained local recognition for his lead role in Purlie Victorious, an award-winning Broadway play written by Ossie Davis. Ronnie embodied the role perfectly, and his performance was remembered for many years.
Ronald continued his education at several institutions, including Wood Junior College (Mathiston), Northwest Junior College (Senatobia), William Carey College, and the University of Southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg). Afterwards, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed at Fort Ord, California. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Mississippi.
He pursued a career in Security/Public Safety retiring as Correctional Officer from the Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman). He frequently traveled Highway 82 from west to east but made his home in the Mississippi Delta, residing in Sumner.
Ronald will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by his siblings: Linda Diane Drungole, Victoria Drungole , Judge Paula Drungole-Ellis (George, Sr.) Daphanie Lee (Johnny) of Starkville, Mississippi, and Darrell Thomas of Oak Park, Illinois, two nieces, one niece-in-law, six nephews, two great-nephews; a very special friend, Barbara Ann Busby of Sumner , MS and many other relatives and friends.
