Ronald Roger Dube (1942-2025) passed away peacefully with his family gathered around him on May 15, 2025, in Cody, WY. He was born on May 8, 1942 in Nashua, NH. Ron married his high school sweetheart, Carol, in 1961, and they recently celebrated 64 years together.
Ron's love affair with Wyoming began 52 years ago. He had a calling to live in the West and was so drawn to Wyoming that he and Carol moved their four sons, two horses, and the family dog to Buffalo, WY when he was just 30. Together they purchased and ran Caribou Resort in the Big Horn Mountains, and Ron realized his dream of becoming a big game outfitter. In 1987 they moved to Cody, where Ron and Carol continued their outfitting business for many years, while Ron guided hunters for big game in the Thorofare.
Ron was the quintessential outdoors man. He had a soul-connection with the great outdoors for 73 years. His purpose on earth was to not only enjoy the outdoors but to fully immerse and understand the details and nuances of nature and animals and to inspire and educate others to do the same. Ron believed it was a privilege and an honor to live his purpose in Wyoming. In 2023, he was inducted into the Wyoming Outdoor Hall of Fame.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol, four sons, Peter (Sheridan) in Buffalo, William (Cindy) in Charlotte, NC, Steven in Watford City, ND and Scott in Denver, CO, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and siblings Roger and Doris in New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Jeannette, and brother Raymond.
A rosary will be prayed on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 6pm at The Church of St. Anthony in Cody. Mass of Christian Burial will be at the church on Tuesday, May 20 at 11am with fellowship and reception to follow at The Terrace.
Donations may be made to the CRH Foundation at Cody Regional Health Spirit Mountain Hospice House (codyregionalhealth.org/crh-foundation/ways-to-give/) or The WYldlife Fund (thewyldlifefund.org). Memories and condolences can be shared on Ron's memory page at www.BallardFH.com

Carol and family: Heartfelt condolences and hoping that the cherished memories of Ron live on with all that knew him. He was an excellent steward of wildness, wildlife, vegetation and education of this wonderful Wyoming way of life.

We are so very saddened by Ron's passing. We were blessed to go on many wilderness adventures with him. He had an abundant love of and deep respect for nature. He was a unique person and there will never be another like him. Truly the Lord tossed the mold after creating such a wonderful soul. He is now riding free, across meadows, streams and mountains in the great beyond, unencumbered by the frailties of our mortal bodies. Fair winds and clear skies to you, dear friend.

Thank you Ron for all the stories, adventures, rides, corney jokes, picnics and your knowledge...but most importantly being a great neighbor and friend. Ride those mountain trails! Wyoming will never be the same without you. Rest in peace
