Barbara Mae Reid (Barb), a remarkable individual whose life was filled with love,

dedication, and cherished moments, embraced the hand of Jesus and made her journey

home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years

old.

Barb was born on July 5, 1936, in Red Lodge, MT to Glen and Edna Smith and grew up in

Bearcreek, MT along with her 6 siblings. Barb attended school in Bearcreek where she met

the love of her life, Russell Reid (Russ).

Barb and Russ were married January 16, 1959, in Denver, CO. They were married nearly 60

years and lived in Cody, WY where they raised their five children: Linda, Lori, Bob, Brenda,

and Judy. Together, they navigated life's challenges and celebrated its triumphs, always

finding strength in each other. Barb often described Russ as her greatest confidant and

partner, a sentiment echoed by those who witnessed their bond. Their marriage

exemplified love, commitment, and understanding.

Barb devoted many years to running Morning Creek and Yellow Creek Outfitters, which she

owned with Russ. The venture gave them the opportunity to share their love for spending

time in the mountains. Barb was also admired for her exceptional talent as a camp cook.

Beyond this, she was a hardworking and committed individual who thrived in various roles,

including her work at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and the Game and Fish Check

Station.

Barb's greatest love was her family. Barb made every day special through family dinners,

camp coffee by the fire, picnics, camping, and loved every opportunity she could spend

with her grandchildren and great children. Barb's home was always open to family and

friends to have a cup of coffee and a great meal.

Barb is survived by her 4 children: Linda (Paul) Yorks, Bob Reid, Brenda (John) O'Connor

and Judy (Kevin) Wichern, 10 grandchildren: Brock (Virginia) Phillips , Megan (Jimmy)

Phillips, Jozie (Jimmy) Coy, Jessie (Challis) Whitlock, Teal (Reid) Reid, Cassidy Reid, Josh

George, Dustin (Tamara) Wilson, Colter (Julie) Wichern, Tanner (Kelly) Wichern, 17 great

grandchildren, sister Diane Fike, brothers Chuck Smith, Jim Smith, Rick Smith, and many

nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her loving

Husband Russ, Daughter Lori, Father Glen Smith, Mother Edna Smith, Sister Eileen Smith,

and Brother, Bill Smith.
