Swansboro-Ronald Edward Duffey, 80, passed away, November 17, 2025, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington with his family by his side. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on January 1,1945, a son of the late Daniel and Gertrude Duffey.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 24,2025 at 10:30am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Jason Dart officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro from 2-5.

Ronald faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring with honor at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. A man of deep faith and a devoted servant of God, he lived his life guided by integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment. After completing his military career, Ronald returned to school and continued his service to others by becoming a police officer with the town of Swansboro, where he proudly served for 12 years.

Ronald's greatest joy was not found in ranks or titles, but in the moments spent with his family, his friends, and behind the wheel of his C-8 Corvette. His legacy is one of devotion-to God, to his country, and to the people he loved most.

He is survived by his wife, Thanh Duffey of the home; children, Twee Truong (Charlie) of Jacksonville, Betty Duffey (Joe Duer) of Dallas, TX, Hoang Truong (Yen) of Jacksonville, Valerie Colon (Manuel) of Woodland, TX, Kent Duffey of Fort Wayne, IN, and Tina Duffey of Fort Wayne, IN; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; and siblings, Joyce DeRemer of IN, Roger Duffey of IN, and Gene Duffey of FL.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Richard Duffey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 206 Pine Valley Rd., Jacksonville, NC 28546.
