Ronald "Ronnie/Dusty" G. Dustman, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. N.Y., on Nov. 26, 2023.
The son of the late George E. Dustman and Frances R. (Ward) Dustman, Ronnie was born in 1938 in Butler Center, N.Y. The family moved to Rochester in the early 1940s and Ronnie joined the Navy in 1956. He married Bonnie (Rosso) Dustman in 1964 and, together, they lived life to the fullest for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health.
Ronnie is survived by his sons Ronald (Valerie) G. Dustman, Jr., and Edward (Renee) G. Dustman; younger brother Lacey M. Dustman; grandchildren Franky, RJ, Joshua, Allan, and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews including Natalie, Mark, Timmy, Isabelle, George, and Patty; cousins Lacey and Bobby Ward and Dianne (Dustman) Schleifer; and dear friends the Giehls and Gale Phillips.
He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, his parents, his brother Buddie A. Dustman, and sisters Joyce A. Dustman and Janette M. (Dustman) Maddalena.
Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved boating, fishing, and camping on Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks with family and friends. In later years, he enjoyed spending summers with his children and grandchildren on Conesus Lake in Lakeville, N.Y. He also loved building model airplanes, woodworking, and attending air shows and gun shows.
Prior to retiring from Alstom Transport (formerly General Railway Signal), Ronnie served in the Coast Guard. He also frequently volunteered as a poll worker for government elections.
All who new Ronnie (Dad/Papa) will miss his dearly, but we are comforted to know he is reunited with the love of his life. May Ronnie and Bonnie rest in peace together for all eternity. Thank you both for everything. We love you and will keep you in our hearts forever.
Calling hours will be held at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road, on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Ronnie will be laid to rest in the family plot at Glenside Cemetery in Wolcott, N.Y., on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a military veteran support organization of your choice or Strong Memorial Hospital, where Ronnie was expertly cared for by dedicated staff.

Worked with Ronnie for many years... he was good, funny and knew his job! He also helped me with some home improvements over the years. He will be missed. Very sorry.

Worked with Ron "Dustpan" for many years at GRS and enjoyed his company. Spent time camping with him and his family at Cranberry lake and canoeing on Black Creek. Sorry to see him pass and sorry I did not stay in touch with him.
