Ronald E. “Pete” Gelsinger, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1942, in Chambersburg, PA to the late Clair and Leona (Barnes) Gelsinger. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mansfield during the Vietnam War. Ron owned and operated Pete’s Barber Shop in Chambersburg for over 50 years where his shop was more than a place for a haircut. It was a gathering spot for generations to tell stories while enjoying friendship and laughter. Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #143, VFW Post #1599, Amvets Post #224, American Legion Post #46, and 40 & 8.
Ron is survived by his daughter Tammy Murphy and husband, Rich; son, Keith Gelsinger and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Corey Adams and wife, Andrea, Zoe Gelsinger, and Quentin Kriner; four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Easton, Arya, Haleigh. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother William Gelsinger, and sister Jean Hawbaker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Pastor Ron Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens where the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599 Honor Guard will provide military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
