Loreauville, LA – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Ronald James Green, 71, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church (120 Daigre Street) with Rev. Godwin Nzeh, Celebrant officiating.
He will await the resurrection in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Loreauville, LA.
A visitation will be held at Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday, August 31, 2024, beginning at 7:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. with the Knights of Peter Claver Court #195 ritual. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 A.M. followed by tributes, expressions, and reading of the obituary.
Mr. Ronald James Green was born to the union of the late Albert Green and Helen Anthony Green on January 11, 1953, in Lafayette, LA. He was a resident of Loreauville, LA and departed this life at 9:05 A.M. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA surrounded by his family.
"Porppy" as he was affectionately known, received the Sacrament of Baptism into the Catholic faith and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. At the church, he served as Parish Council Vice-President, a Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and Altar Server when called upon, doing whatever he could to serve his church. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Court #195 and Our Lady of Victory Bible Group. An accolade included being the recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. award. Educationally, he attended Jonas Henderson High School and was a 1972 graduate of Loreauville High School. He also attended Duram Business College in Houston, Texas. Following graduation, he was employed with Chevron Texaco for 37 years. Ronald enjoyed going to the casino, loved watching Sunday football (New Orleans Saints), taking care of his garden, and spending time with family and friends, having a friendly conversation and a whole lot of questions.
Ronald was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Marie Yolanda Antoine Green for 52 years and to this union they were blessed with three daughters, Rhonda (Garland) Jean-Batiste of Cade, LA, Rolanda (Henry III) Hockless of Loreauville, LA, and Rory (James Jr.) Nash of Humble, TX; one grandson, Kenneth Broussard, Jr. of Loreauville, LA; six grandchildren, Reese Green, Rylee Green, and Rudi Green of Loreauville, LA, Jolie Nash and Rumi Nash of Humble, TX; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Broussard of St. Martinville, LA; two brothers, John Green (Victoria) and Stanley Green (Fredricka) of Loreauville, LA; one sister, Debra Green (Raphael Sr.) of Loreauville, LA; four sisters-in-law, Vanessa Zepherin (Willie), Ida Antoine of Loreauville, LA, Millie Antoine of New Iberia, LA, and Odessa Broussard of Houston, TX; four godsons, Lante Phillips of Houston, TX, Willie Zepherin, Jr. of Dallas, TX, Albert Green of Katy, TX, and Henry Hockless, III of Loreauville, LA; three goddaughters, Daesha Hughes of New Iberia, LA, Aquanetta Archangel of New Orleans, LA, and Sophi Malbreaux of St. Martinville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Green and Helen Anthony Green; one sister, Mary Helen St. Julien; paternal grandparents, Francis and Bernard Green; maternal grandparents, Joseph Anthony and Edna Anthony; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard Antoine and Mary Magna Willis Antoine; one nephew, Christopher St. Julien; and one niece, Benita Green.
The active pallbearers are John Green, Albert Green, Renaldo Joseph, Jr., Garland Jean-Batiste, Lante Phillips, and Willie Zepherin, Jr.
The honorary pallbearers are Leonard Antoine, Moses Michael Antoine, Norman Antoine, Woodrow Broussard, Jr., Henry Hockless III, Garland Jean-Batiste, Albert Jones, Patrick Anthony, Fabian Pierre, Floyd Joseph, James Nash, Jr., Willie Zepherin, Sr., and Joseph Allen Vital.
