Ronald Groholski Obituary

Ronald Joseph Groholski Sr., 84, of Allegheny Township, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 22, 1938, in Vandergrift, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Wenskowski) Groholski. Ronald was a graduate of Vandergrift High School and attended Saint Vincent's College and the Detroit Institute of Technology. He served our country with the United States Army in the 392nd Army Band. Ronald worked as a facility manager at ALCOA, retiring after 30 years of employment. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church. Ronald loved playing music and was skilled on the saxophone, clarinet and flute. He played in the Detroit Tamburitzans, Joe Alese Combo, Autobahn Band and several other local bands. Ronald liked golfing and was an avid Steelers fan, enjoying attending games and tailgating. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Robert III. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, C. Diane (Pritchett) Groholski; children, R.J. (Vicky) Groholski, of Gibsonia, and Michael W. (Michelle) Groholski, of Irwin; grandchildren, Hannah, Emma and Kayla Groholski; sister, Patricia L. (Robert) Owens, of Glen Burnie, Md.; and nieces, Bettina, Susannah and Juliet. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 429 Franklin Ave. Parting prayers of transfer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, PA 15690, with Father James Loew, O.S.B., as celebrant. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Gertrude's at the above listed address, or to your favorite local polka radio show.
