Ronald R Hagens

(12/31/1965 – 09/10/2025)

Ronald Ray Hagens, age 59, was born in Johnstown, PA on December 31, 1965. He lived most of his life in Ohio. He passed away suddenly from a "broken heart" and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in his home with family. The illness took him quickly being he only experienced symptoms for the last 6 months.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Ronald D Hagens and mother, Ruth F Hagens; He is survived by his sister Cheryl (Stephen) Ely; his brother Donald Hagens; two nephews Anthony and Ryan Ely; two nieces Rachel Henry and Hannah Ely; three great nephews Kane Henry, Dominic and Bryce Holloway and one great niece Aleena Robinson; three great-great nieces Aliyah, Karleigh and Nylah Henry, all of Akron and very close friend and business partner, Renjit (Gee) Bhattarai and his wife, Wangmo Tamang.

Ron was a mechanic most of his life. As a child he watched his dad and close family friend, Don Hixenbaugh do body work and mechanical work on cars in their garages. Later has a teenager, Ron took up mechanics working side by side with them in their shops. He worked in a few small car shops in the Akron area after that. Ron recently pursued his dream by opening his own garage with a partner, naming it "Ronny the Mechanic." Ron was a "Jack of all Trades." In his spare time, he was always helping someone with something whether it had to do with plumbing, electrical work, construction, more car repair, etc. If he didn't know something, he would google YouTube videos and figure it out. He often taught anyone interested in the things he was doing. He was loved by all and will be missed.
