Ron Harris of What Cheer passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at his home. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 22, from

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.

Ronald Eugene Harris Jr., of What Cheer. Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the age 64 at his home. Born on September 9, 1961, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Ron attended Tri-County schools and later served in the Iowa National Guard, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to hard work and service.

On January 2, 1981, Ron married Lori Atwell in Sigourney, Iowa. Together they raised three sons, Scott, Brian, and Will-who were the pride of his life. Ron later married Tina on October 22, 2010.

Ron spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver for various companies, and also worked as a grave digger, a role he approached with care and reverence. He took great pride in maintaining cemetery grounds, especially at the cemetery in Ottumwa, where his dedication and attention to detail were evident in every corner.

Family was Ron's greatest joy. He cherished time spent with his four granddaughters and loved nothing more than fishing, grilling, and teasing those around him to keep spirits high. His laugh was unmistakable, booming, contagious, and always a welcome sound in any crowd.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Jean Harris, and Betty Flander; his wife, Tina Harris; and his sisters, Julie Ann Harris and Kimberly Myers.

He is survived by his sons: Scott (Jessie) Harris, Brian Harris, and Will (Lacy) Harris; his siblings: Donna (Ray) Gudith and Randy Harris; his special cousin: Debra Harris (John Bookout); and his beloved granddaughters: Kendall, Kendra, Raelyn, and Kenzie. Ron will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
