Ronald R. Hartl, aka "Moose," of Chetek, WI, passed away April 12 at the age of 58 with his loving wife and family by his side. Ron was born July 12, 1966, in Eau Claire to parents Arlen and Sharon Hartl.
Ron graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in May 1984.
After graduation Ron worked as a store manager at several Burger King restaurants, where he made many friends that he still has today. Ron then worked at Car City, indulging his love for cars, and again left there with lifelong friends. After Car City, Ron went to work for his brother Randy at Rally Bat Company where Ron developed his skill in laser engraving.
Ron is survived by his best friend and wife, Brenda; sons, Jordan and Tanner, both his pride and joy; and crazy dog, Bella, aka Ms. B. He is also survived by his lifelong fishing partner and big brother, Randy, and Randy's wife, Anita. Sarcastic sparring with Anita brought Ron great amusement.
In addition, he is survived by his three favorite nephews, Bradon, Nolan, and Parker, with whom he had to repeatedly school at playing euchre at hunting camp; his niece, Kressin, who brought Uncle Moose a lifetime of "Kressie cheek kisses," something they both cherished.
Ron also leaves behind his father and mother-in-law, Darwyn and Shirley; sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Kirk; and niece, Erica. There is also an incredible extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and far too many friends to count. Whether you liked it or not, once you were a friend of Ron's, you were his friend for life.
On January 6, 2008, Ron met his match when he and Brenda met for a burger at Kings in Miesville. Both of their lives were forever changed that day, and they have been loving each other and laughing with and at each other every day since. They were united in marriage on December 5, 2009, and built a relationship they both treasured more than anything else. The two were each other's best friend and spending time doing just about anything together was their favorite activity.
In April 2016, Ron and Brenda purchased The Chain of Lakes Motel in Chetek. Ron, alongside Brenda, and son Tanner, remodeled and rebuilt the motel, turning it into a profitable successful business. Ron took great pride in what they accomplished and enjoyed meeting all the people that stayed with them. They sold the motel in November of 2022.
Ron's hobbies are far too many to list here, but amongst his favorite were fishing for walleye, preferably in Canada with Randy, Zach, and Bob; hunting deer with his sons and nephews, often in the Blue Hills, a favorite spot; and let's not forget his love for just about anything with an engine, a passion he shared with his son Tanner. Ron loved great '80s rock (and a lot of bad stuff, too, according to Brenda), the Green Bay Packers, black licorice, and true crime TV.
Ron was preceded in death by many, including his father Arlen, and most recently his mother Sharon, and his beloved pets White Dog and Willow.
Ron and his quick sarcastic wit will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
