Ronald J. Hassett

1961 - 2024

Ronald J. "Ron" Hassett, 63, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Aug. 6, 2024. Ron, formerly of South Side, was born Jan. 7, 1961, before moving with his wife and children to Gibsonia, PA. He married his loving wife, Lori Hassett, in Oct. 1999, before welcoming his two daughters, Jenna and Katie. Ron's life although taken too soon, was filled with immense love from family and friends. Those who knew him, knew him for his kind spirit, immense patience, and total selflessness. He was an outstanding father, amazing husband, and an even better friend. Ron was a man with the biggest heart, and not only loved and was loved by those around him, but also had a deep and unconditional love for animals, most importantly his dog, Winnie. He also had a passion for music and had a love for fishing. He was an incredibly hard-worker and dedicated his life to the State of Pennsylvania in which he worked as a Correctional Officer for 18 years. He was extremely proud of his work, specifically his time spent at SCI Pittsburgh until he was then transferred to SCI Green, where he finished out his career. He was passionate and kind to everyone around him and left a lasting impact on all of those he interacted with. Ron is survived by wife, Lori Hassett, his daughters, Jenna and Katie Hassett; brother, Robert 'Bobby' Hassett; sister, Patricia 'Patty' Ernst-Hassett; brother-in-law, John Bateman; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bateman; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Hassett; father, James 'Red' Hassett; brother, James 'Jimmy' Hassett; mother-in-law, Rose DeGrazia; father-in-law, Giuseppe 'Joe' DeGrazia; and his loving pet, Ariel. Friends received Friday 2 to 8 p.m., at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. Ron will be desperately missed by all of those around him. We are so heartbroken by this unexpected loss.
