Ronald Eugene Hawkins

HAWKINS, Ronald Eugene "Ronnie" – of Burton, MI, age 86, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11 AM – 7 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. Cremation will take place after the Celebration of life. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery 1 PM on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Ronald was born in Holland, MI on August 1, 1939, son of the late Bruce and Sybil (Berry) Hawkins. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 1962 until February 1965, Ron married Cynthia Leighton on March 16, 1990, in Flushing, MI. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated service. Ron was a huge car enthusiast. He built cars, raced cars, and participated in various car shows with his 1939 Chevy Sedan and 1948 Chevy Pickup. Ron could often be found planting flowers or meticulously manicuring his lawn. If he wasn't showing cars, working in his yard or making his homemade BBQ sauce, he was likely at the casino. Of all his hobbies, without a doubt his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Rhonda (John) Earegood, Jayme (Keri Warren) Hawkins, Brandon (Shannon) Leighton; grandchildren, Alyssa (Victor), Lilli, Gavin, Garrett, Rylee, Aiden, Brooklynn, Braxton; one great-grandchild who will be born in June; a special brother-in-law, Loren Hopkins and his children, Patti, Vicki, Lynn Rae, and Lori who lovingly called him "Special Uncle Ronnie"; as well as many other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by sister, Connie Hopkins; grandson, Landon Leighton; his ex-wife, Jackie Hawkins.
