Ronald A. Hayward, 88, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 26, 2023, at the Allure Facility in Moline, Illinois.
Ronald Allen Hayward was born on June 19, 1935 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to John Jacob and Annina Marie (Weets) Hayward. He was a 1953 graduate of Maquoketa High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army earning an Honorable Discharge. He married Doris Ann Johnson on June 2, 1963 at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2019.
Over the years he had worked for Cornelius Farms and Kunau Farms, Meinerz Creamery, Beatrice Cheese in Preston, and lastly for Web Printing in Maquoketa.
He had attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston. He enjoyed fishing.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Douglas Hayward of Rock Island, IL, Beth Ann Hayward of Preston, IA, and Crystal (Shawn) Gaskins of Rock Island, IL; and 2 grandchildren, Nicole Gaskins, and Christian Gaskins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Doris of 55 years, son Allan William Hayward, brother Robert Hayward, and a grandchild Avery Gaskins.
Arrangements are pending with plans being made to celebrate his life on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at the Preston, Iowa Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Ronald A. Hayward Memorial Fund has been established.
