To the Ronald A. Hefty family I wish to express my sympathy for the passing of this patriarch.

I did not know him but I'm positive as we shared the love of farming we would have hit it off together.

Heard Darrin and Brian reminisce about their father on Friday's AG PHD and brought back memories of my own father.

I can't help but believe they shared the commonality of the trials involved with the rearing of kids on the farm, only to later be proud of the children's accomplishments.

I think the late Paul Harvey summed up the values of Mr. Hefty, my father, and others like them. (And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer.)

Kevin from western Illinois.

In 1977 I started as a delivery driver for UPS, and the Hefty farm was on my route. Not only were they very busy with a lot of boxes and bags, but everyone worked, even helping me unload. And, always there were some goodies to eat around that big farm building. Also I graduated from high school with Eloise! I feel the sadness with your loss, but also know the joy of knowing Ron.

To the family: Please allow your fondest memories shared with Ron to be as a soothing blanket over your heart. Please consider Hosea 13:14 and John 6:40. May those words of promise bring you consolation and a bountiful measure of peace. Please accept my sincere regards and heartfelt condolences.
