Ronald "Ron" Herring

Funeral services for Ronald Herring, age 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Pastor Craig Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Ron was born on August 16, 1941, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie Honeycutt Herring; his daughter, Marti Herring; his father, George Herring and mother, Louise (Coleman) Herring; his sister, Carol Holbert; and his bonus daughter, Pamala Harris. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Osborne and husband Keith; his son, Morgan Herring and wife Ashley; his bonus daughter, Michelle Joiner and husband Mark; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many other cherished friends and family. Ron spent the majority of his career in grocery retail. Once he was hired at Safeway, he worked his way into management where he spent several years as an Assistant Manager with Harvest Foods. Respectfully known as "Big 'Un" or "Mr Ron", he was always willing to teach others and pass along his attention to detail. He was a big believer in doing things right the first time. He grew up hunting and fishing in the woods, lakes and rivers of south Arkansas. His love for the outdoors carried over into adulthood, as he and Bessie could often be found fishing on Lake Larto with good friends. The thing Ron will mostly be remembered for was his devotion, loyalty and love for his family. He often helped those who were in need, guided those who were wandering, and taught those that were willing to listen. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. He will always be loved by those of us who were fortunate enough to call him Daddy, Dad, Brother, Son or Papaw. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Jeremy, Jacob, Joshua, Casey, Nick, Hallie, Brandon, Emma, Elise, Katie, Delaney, Brandon, Jaycee, Matthew, and Michael.
