Ronald Hillian Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Bloomfield on Jun. 4, 2025.
Ronald M. Hillian, 78, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ronald was the eldest of three children born to the late Rudolph and Beatrice Hillian. He spent many years working as a skilled mechanic and later served as a supervisor in janitorial services.
Affectionately known as "Koolaide", Ronald was a quiet and private man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved the soulful sounds of Motown-Gladys Knight, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and The Supremes were among his favorites-and he could often be seen dancing the Philly Bop, lovingly referred to as "The Official Dance of Philly." Ronald also enjoyed classic Western films, especially The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, starring John Wayne and James Stewart, and he never missed a chance to sing along to its memorable theme song. Ronald also had a deep appreciation for a good Philly cheesesteak hoagie and was known for his sweet tooth, especially when it came to chocolate.
He was also known for his memorable sayings and straightforward wisdom, often offering guidance to loved ones navigating life's challenges. His favorite sayings were, "Speaky Boo" and "I ain't got time for short strokes."
Ronald is survived by his children: Ronald Hillian, Donald (Camilla) Hillian, Raymond Medley, John Hillian, and Danielle Howard; his brother, Michael Hillian; his beloved niece, Angelique Hillian-Briggs, his aunt, Betty Perkins; and a special cousin, Sarah "Winifred" Hillian-McNeil. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Among his grandchildren, he had a special relationship with Ronald Michael (Aisha) Hillian and Azziza (Michael) Hillian-McEarchen. He also had a deep and lasting connection with his Barbary Coast family who held a meaningful place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, Rudolph and Beatrice Hillian, Ronald was predeceased by his brother, Bernard "Billy" Hillian, and his wives: Delores, Mary, and Ruth.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care provided to Ronald.
