Ronald Lee Hinkle

Ronald Lee Hinkle, 84, of Rockingham, VA passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Hinkle was born on April 1, 1941 in Penn Laird, VA and was the son of the late Carl Michael Hinkle, Sr. and Dorothy Collier Sperau Hinkle.

He grew up in Penn Laird and graduated from Montevideo High School with the class of 1959. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Midway and Honolulu, Hawaii. Ronald was an avid golfer and loved to fish, hunt, camp, play poker and sightsee. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church of the Brethren in McGaheysville.

Surviving family members include his wife, Emily Margaret Vida Hinkle; sons, David Hinkle, Neil Hinkle and Ryan Hinkle and wife, Tracey; daughters, Lori Butler and husband, David and Jodi Rehkemper and husband, Steve; brother, Thomas Richard Hinkle; grandchildren, Lexi Mamuscia and husband, Chris, Cody Stephenson and wife, Cimantha, Nick Rehkemper and wife, Ally, Jacob Hinkle, Kyle Stephenson and wife, Leah, David Butler and wife, Juliette, Heather Derrow and husband, Mike and Dallas Butler and wife, Christianne; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Michael Hinkle, Jr., David Allen Hinkle and Gary Neil Hinkle; former wife, Marlyn Joan Hinkle

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mt. Olive Brethren Church in McGayesville with the Reverend Doctor Fred Miller officiating.
