Ronald "Ron" Hinterscher

Ronald L. "Ron" Hinterscher, 72, of Oblong, IL passed away on Monday October 16, 2023, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.
He was born in Olney, IL on January 25, 1951 to Floyd A. and Mildred (Buerster) Hinterscher. On June 25, 2005 he married Jeanne Cunningham, who survives.
Ron was self employed up until his retirement, although he continued to help people out with their homes, specifically electrically issues. He worked with Mac Mason for several years and learned repair work from him. He was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1969 and spent over 40 years volunteering on the Oblong Fire Department. He also helped in the management of Floyd's and Mildreds. Ron loved to tinker with anything and working on race cars.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Hinterscher, Oblong, IL; two sons Christopher Hinterscher and partner Brian Goldenstein and Nick Hinterscher, all of Oblong, IL; stepson Eric and Michaela Varner, Palestine, IL; stepdaughter Stacey and Aubrey Forrester, Henderson, KY; grandchildren Blake Hinterscher and Kara Reider, Morgan Varner, Keaton O'Dell, Aleksey O'Dell, and Kimberlynn Ramsey. He is also survived by a brother Tim Hinterscher, Oblong, IL.; sisters and brothers-in-law Jan and Doug Long, Newton, IL, Rita and Keith Wirey, Robinson, IL, Tammy and Dave Jaben, Houston, TX, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Linda and Rick Jenkins, Terri and Rick Hoepner, along with several nieces, nephews, and a mother-in-law Barbara Cunningham.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Tom and Kevin Hinterscher and a sister Diane Hinterscher.
Celebration of Ron's life will be held at 10:00a.m. Thursday October 19, 2023, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday October 18, 2023 at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong Fire Department Christmas for Kids with envelopes available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O.
