Ronald Richard Hughes

Ronald Richard Hughes, age 86, of Bedford, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in LaGrange, Kentucky. Born March 10, 1939 in Carrollton, Kentucky, he was the son of Shelby and Leola Wilson Hughes Roberts.
Mr. Hughes was retired from the maintenance department of Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, Indiana and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Bedford. He enjoyed sitting on this front porch, eating at Town and Country and Raisin' Blazing' BBQ restaurants, and going to church and being with his church family. He was also a member of the Trimble County Senior Citizens Center.
His surviving family includes the mother of his children and devoted caregiver, Brenda (Brierly) Hughes Dahlem of Bedford; two sons: Ronnie Hughes and his companion, Annette, of Milton, Kentucky, and Richard "Rick" Hughes and his wife, Rene, of Bedford; three grandchildren: Jennifer Heilman and her husband, Casey, Craig Hughes and his companion, Kelsey, and Haley Smith; six great grandchildren: Caden, Jadelynn, RaeLynn, Charlee, Maci and Kingsley; one half-brother: Donnie Hughes and his wife, Susan of Bedford; and five half-sisters: Sherry Breeden and her husband, Dwayne of Lexington, Kentucky, Shirlene James of Bedford, Shelby McClure and her husband, Dave of Milton, Rita Stangle and her husband, Kenny of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Patty Goodman and her husband, Kevin of Louisville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, the former Donna Stewart, to whom he was married on October 16, 1982, and who preceded him in death on March 21, 2023.
The Reverend Ron Diehl will conduct the funeral services.
