Ronald L. Johnson, age 83, of Syracuse, IN, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 31, 2026.
He was born on May 15, 1942, in Mishawaka, IN to his parents David and Jeanette Johnson, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 67 yrs, Connie Johnson. Also his two children Steve (Bridget) Johnson and Pam (Louis) Gerber.
He has 5 grandchildren: Shawn (Carrie) Johnson, Ryan (Jordan) Johnson, Leigh Anne (Blake) Dearing, Austin (Tiffany) Gerber, and Paige (Sam) Korenstra. He has 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his only sister Sue (Rich) Grewe.
His entire working life was in the food service industry. He and his son owned the Channel Marker Restaurant in Syracuse for 30 yrs.
Dad’s faith in his Lord and Savior are what drove his direction in his entire life. His life was changed while watching a Billy Graham crusade on TV. At that point he became a face for faith to the youth group, his Sunday school classes he taught, choir, all who came in contact with him. He loved the lake and especially boating. His family was his world. He taught each of us the unwavering importance of our faith. His legacy flows through his entire family.
He loved working with his hands, and no project was too big to tackle. Dad was so funny and witty. Always positive, never self centered, always wanted you to feel he was doing good, no matter what he felt. We can’t wait to see him in heaven some day.
There will be no funeral or viewing. Prayers for mom are appreciated. Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1001 S. Huntington St, Syracuse, Indiana has been entrusted with Dad's care. To send a written condolence, visit Dad's obituary page at: www.TitusFuneralHome.com.
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed down low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me but let me go
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all part of a master plan
A step on the road home
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to friends we know
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me but let me go -Christina Rossetti-
