Ronald Karcher Obituary

Ronald Conrad Karcher

June 26, 1931 - November 28, 2024

Ronald C. Karcher, 93, a lifelong resident of the Lake Geneva area, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Village Glen of Lake Geneva.

Ron was born on June 26, 1931, to the late Walter and Rose (Yanke) Karcher in Elkhorn, Wis. On December 29, 1951, Ron was united into marriage to Marian Bearce, in Zenda, Wis. On January 4, 1952, Ron was inducted into the United States Army, where he would serve for two years.

Ron was an active man. He was a member of the American Legion Post #183 of Genoa City, was secretary of the 137 Bowling Association, and was even inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. In high school Ron played basketball, football, and softball, but he kept playing softball up until he was in his 60s. When Ron wasn't involved in sports, he loved a good game of poker or pinochle, loved horseshoes, a round of golf, or just to sit at the dining room table with the love of his life, Marian, and play dominoes and laugh until their cheeks hurt.

Ron is survived by his wife, Marian, of 72 years. Two children, Lynn Miller and Karen (Pat) Thomas; along with three grandchildren, Joseph (Samantha) Thomas, Sarah Thomas, Korrina (David) Andre; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Alexa, Landon Thomas, and Everson Andre all will survive Ron. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Rose; his brother and his wife, Merrill and Anne Karcher; his sister and her husband, Kay and Larry Dangerfield; and his son-in-law, Roy Miller.

Services for Ron will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church in Lake Geneva. Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday, December 6th, starting at 10 a.m. Military honors and entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family has asked that you donate in Ron's name to the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church.

Dad and Ron were friends for a long time, since their military service. His family became our family. I am sure they are playing pinochle with the others in heaven now!

I met Ron four years ago, when I moved back to the area. I just discovered that he was a distant relative.
We lived in the same apartment building . I enjoyed listening to the stories he had to tell. I'll miss him.
