Ron married Diane Kobelske of Racine, WI in 1963 and they raised their sons Jeff and Greg during his military travels and retirement in Omaha. He moved to Texas in 2003 where he met his second wife Lisa Clark; they were married in 2004 and moved to Little Chute, WI, in 2008.

He is survived by his wife Lisa, sons Jeff and Greg (both of Omaha, NE), granddaughter Audra of Omaha, sister Dona (Marlin) Vosberg of Wisconsin Dells, sisters-in-law Gail of Zion, IL, and Nancy of Chippewa Falls, nephews Randy (Alice) Vosberg, Dan (Ruth) Vosberg, Shelly (Mitch) Duda, Darrin (Lisa) Krebs, Bob (Penny) Krebs, stepsons Dave Clark and Dan Clark, stepdaughter Deb Swiertz, and many cousins, grandnephews and nieces, step-grandchildren, and friends.
