Ronald Elwin Lau, 79 years old, formerly from Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away at home with his family by his side on Dec. 10th, 2025.

Ron was born on June 29th, 1946, to Elwin and Laverne Lau. He was the youngest of two boys. He attended schools in Soda Springs, Idaho - graduating from Soda Springs High School in 1964. He then graduated from Idaho State with a degree in Education.

He married Carolynn Jean Kunz on June 28th, 1974, in Soda Springs Idaho. They raised two children, a son Todd and a daughter Lindsay.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother Garyn, and his dad Elwin and mother Laverne.

He is survived by his spouse Carolynn, his son Todd (Cindy), daughter Lindsay, and three grandchildren - Cameron (Kayla), Courteney (Colton), and Brooklynn (Alec), and nine great grandchildren.

Ron spent his early years helping his father farm north of Soda and working at Simplot/Dravo. He and Carolynn then moved to Elko in 1989 where he began work at the Northern Nevada Correctional Institute. In 2000, Ron and Carolynn moved to Emmett Idaho to be closer to Lindsay and Todd, where he went to work for Community Partnership where he finished out his working years.

Ron enjoyed talking about muscle cars and enjoyed taking his 1967 Camaro to car shows around the Treasure Valley with Carolynn and daughter Lindsay. He loved rocking out to old music, was passionate about golf, skiing in his younger years, hunting, fishing, camping, gathering wood, and watching his kids and grandkids play sports.
