Ronald "Ron" Wayne Long went to be with his Lord on Friday March 6, 2026. Ron died at his home in Hedley Texas.

Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Hedley at a later date.

Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Ron was born in California on September 8, 1950 to Helen Long Wood and Ronald Wood. At the death of his mother, he was adopted by Robert and Jane Long. Ron is survived by a daughter Summer Long and a grandson, William Desean Watson, both of California. He is also survived by siblings Betty Ward and husband Richard of Franklin Pa., Nancy Woodard of Hedley, Larry Long of Odessa, Donna Long and Shaun Long both of Lubbock, several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Long.

Ron spent many years in California where he owned a business and worked as a contractor. He was a great worker and very meticulous with any job he did. Ron had three passions in life. He was devoted to his daughter and to golf, but his greatest love was the relationship he had with his Lord. He loved to share his love of the Lord with family and friends. Ron spent many years working with prison ministries and assisting released men reestablish their lives. He has often said that he had no fear of death and was excited to go to his eternal home. He will be greatly missed.
