Nancy Long Obituary

GENEVA – Nancy Jane Maney Long, was born in Geneva, N.Y. on July 27, 1932. She is the daughter of Thomas J. Maney and Ethel Davis Maney. With broken hearts we said our good-byes to a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt at home on Saturday March 7, 2026.

There will be no prior calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at St. Stephen's Church, 48 Pulteney St., Geneva, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St., Geneva, N.Y. 14456 or to the Geneva Public Library 244 Main St., Geneva, N.Y. 14456.

Nancy graduated from her beloved DeSales High School in Geneva, N.Y., class of 1950. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. While working at Margrove's Ice Cream Parlor, she met her future husband, Donald Long. Upon graduation she attended Freeman Business School.

She worked as a library aide at North Street School for 10 years. She thoroughly enjoyed being with friends and family at the Geneva Rod & Gun Club, the family road trips to Florida, and Christmas Eve gatherings at their home. In later years, she became the number one fan of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Nancy is survived by three daughters, Deborah Combs (Frank Laquitara) of CT, Kathleen Long DeRosa (Paul) and Tricia Long Miller (John); her son, Stephen Long (Deb) of VA; grandchildren, Matthew Combs, Chelsea Combs, Kevin and Michael DeRosa, and Brendan Long; great-granddaughter, MacKenzie DeRosa. Nancy is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Connie Long, Mary Lou Long and De Long and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Long; her parents Thomas J. and Ethel Maney; siblings, Marian Stevenson, Thomas F. Maney, Grace Allen, Charles R. Maney, Robert S. Maney; and infant son, David.

A special thanks to Nancy's caregivers who provided Nancy with wonderful care and comfort.

Yesterday

I´m extending my prayers and love to the entire family of Nancy Long.
What a privilege it was to have such great neighbors !
I´ll share memories of Donald playing King of The Jungle in his backyard, usually a wheel barrel in tow. He up-kept his lawn with such love, enjoyment, dedication, and umph. It gave me the motivation to do the same. He kept his lawn to the highest of standards, mainly in part for Nancy to enjoy, I think.
Nancy and I shared a love for wanted to be surrounded by beauty- that is Nature. How the lawn looks, to keep the flowers blooming, keeping the birds fed, getting out on the deck.
I´ll keep those memories close to my heart.
Donald and Nancy were wonderful people on this Earth. Good spirited. Kind hearted. I couldn´t ask for better neighbors.
Thank you for the memories and the gift of sharing human connection.
My absolute heart goes out to the family. I wish you comfort in a changing time.
