Ronald Burnell Mallette, age 78, of Vancleave, MS passed away peacefully at his home in the Old Fort Bayou community on September 22 at 10:27 AM surrounded by his family and friends.

Ronnie was born on October 6, 1946, to George (Scrap) and Lila Mallette. On May 27, 1967, Ronnie married the love of his life, Brenda Kiernan Mallette (Bobo). They shared 48 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. Ronnie was the proud owner of Mallette Drywall and worked hard to provide for his family.

Known by many as “Big Ron,” Ronnie loved hog hunting and spending time on the river with his family and friends- hunting, cooking, and sharing stories. He was a natural storyteller with a sharp sense of humor. Whether it was tales of his childhood in Vancleave or adventures out in the woods, Ronnie could keep everyone laughing and listening for hours.

Above all, Ronnie adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of his life and spent countless days growing up at his home making memories.

To his family and community, he was more than just a good man- he was a true legend.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, George (Scrap) and Lila Mallette; his beloved wife, Brenda Kiernan Mallette; his son Joey Mallette; brothers George Errol Mallette, Bobby Mallette, and Brian Mallette; his sister, Darlene Mallette Barton; and his grandson, Jeffery Mark Mallette.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Mark (Maridee) Mallette; grandchildren, Marcus (Summer) Mallette, Kegan (Chasity) Mallette, Gauge Mallette, Carlee Bond, and Jolee Mallette; great grandchildren Brooklynn Mallette, Brendan Mallette, Stella Mallette, Oaklee Bond, and Weslee Roberts; sisters Glenda Inabinette, Carol (Ken) Newman, Marlene Ainsworth and Tammy (Scott) Noble along with many loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9 AM. Interment at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery to follow.
