Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cannon - Catavolos Funeral Home - Parma Heights on Sep. 22, 2025.
Ronald Marcentile was born on May 24, 1955, and passed away on September 21, 2025. Cherished father to Alicia and Ronnie Marcentile (Elizabeth) and Grandfather to Joseph. Ron was preceded in death by his incredibly wonderful mother, Irma Bakalar, and his brother Leonard Marcentile, and Ron was a beloved brother to Donna Summers (Dave), James Marcentile (Iris), and Linda Bakalar (Mark).
Proud Uncle of Shelly Stotzer (Joe), Christina Marcentile (Shawn), Catherine Warner (Les), Georgette Crawford (Dwayne), Arthur Marcentile (Josie), Charles Marcentile (Katelyn), Jason Clark (Amy), Scott Clark (Molly). Great Uncle of Cambria Stotzer, Autumn Crawford, Ava Stotzer, Andrew Wintersteller, Madelyn Crawford, Brayden Warner, and Alison Wintersteller.
He loved his lifelong friends - Bob Swanson, Bobby Osborne, Buddy Osborne, Butch Bubleavy, Dave Schalmo, Steve Estep, Rick and Laurie Lamb, Frank Frabrizzi, Lonnie Estep, Jimmy Spears, Mark Spears, Jimmy Johnson, Bob Zaggety, Troy Webb, Nickie and Marty Terstage to name a few - with whom he shared holiday cookouts, laughs, and more than a few joints. Those friendships meant the world to him.
Ron graduated from West Technical High School. Ron was very proud of his job at the Cleveland Water Department, where he worked for 30 years as a civil engineer and from which he retired. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived at the same residence in Parma Heights for over 28 years, where he raised his children. His loving son even bought a house on the same street.
Ron was a man who lived life on his own terms. He was stubborn and directionally challenged when out of his own element. He could be difficult at times, but those close to Ron know how deeply he was loved and how much love he gave in return. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, uncle, and friend.
He loved going out to eat. He especially enjoyed Bistro on 130th and Bagley's Grill, among countless other restaurants, where his favorite waitresses became like family, and he made countless new friends with the people he encountered. He had regular meet ups with those he loved, almost always sharing a great meal together.
Ron loved his Cleveland sports, and many of the best memories were built around trips to games with family and friends. This year, he joins his mother Irma, his faithful baseball-watching partner, who passed away in March. Together, they shared countless games rooting for their beloved Cleveland Indians. He took much pride in coaching youth baseball for the community, including coaching his daughter and son for West Denison Baseball and Parma Heights Recreation leagues.
Music was another of his passions. He saw everyone from Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan, and Kenny G, and passed along his passion for music to his children. He bought tickets for his kids or joined them for the concert like Britney Spears because music was about sharing the experience with family.
He created memories that will live on through days at the Kiddie Park, Geauga Lake, Sea World, and Cedar Point.
He was rough around the edges, but his heart was good. His sweet tooth was legendary, and he could be just as sweet himself when he wanted to be.
Ron was many things: a lover of sports and music, a man with a sweet tooth, a loyal friend, a dependable father, and grandfather. He was rough, he was real, but he was also deeply loved. His story lives on in the moments and memories he shared with all of us.
