Ronald Eugene McClain, Sr. age 89, of Perrysville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Sycamore Run Care Center in Millersburg, Ohio. Ron was born on September 27, 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Ronald H. McClain & Marjorie Bird McClain.
Ron proudly retired from the United States Air Force after 37 years of faithful service. He worked as a mechanic and served in Panama and The Gulf War. He was always on the go and loved being outdoors. Ron loved to go hunting, fishing, boating and camping. In his younger years he and the whole family would travel with their camper in Alpena, Michigan and enjoy their time together. He also loved watching westerns on television and spending time with his family. Ron belonged to his local VFW, Eagles Lodge and American Legion.
Ron will be fondly remembered by his wife, Mary E. McClain; his children, Ronald E. (Josie) McClain, Jr, Becky (Mark) Hay, Colleen (Jay) Laferty; his grandchildren, Tabitha, J.J., Nicole, Samathea, Kimberly and Abigail; his siblings, Dean McClain, Doug McClain and Loretta Strong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose McClain; his siblings, Laretta McClain and Chuck McClain.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in the Mansfield Cemetery. Celebrant Dave Roberts will officiate.
