Ronald Lynn McDonald, Sr, 76, a resident of St. Pauls, NC, went to his eternal home December 24, 2023.

Born on December 24, 1947, in Lumberton, N.C., he was the son of the late James Boyce McDonald and Mary Maxine Stephens McDonald.  Ronald attended Tar Heel High School and St. Pauls High School.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Pauls, where he served as a Deacon.  He was also a past Chairman of the Board of Deacons.  

He was a former superintendent at Harrelson Mechanical Contractors out of Wilmington, NC.  He also loved agriculture and spent most of his days farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Paul S. McDonald, James B. McDonald, William McDonald, Hal Wayne McDonald and Glenn McDonald; brother-in-law Murray Russ.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Viola Russ McDonald of the home; a son, Ronald McDonald Jr. and wife Jennifer Inman McDonald; granddaughters, Kaylee McDonald and Laney McDonald; a daughter, Nicole McDonald Holloway and husband Christopher Holloway; a granddaughter, Hailey Holloway; sisters in law, Diana McDonald of Henderson, NC Carolyn McDonald of St. Pauls, NC, Sue Lanier of Lumberton, NC, JoAnn Smith of Lumberton, NC; Edith Warwick and husband Junior Warwick of Lumberton, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home in St. Pauls, Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 6-8pm.  The funeral will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 11a.m. at First Baptist Church, St. Pauls. Pastor Pat Hash will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Pauls Fire and Rescue, PO Box 364, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
