Ronald Keith Mentink, 89, of Cedar Grove went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Cedar Grove Gardens.
Ron was born on August 18, 1934, to Edwin and Vera (Van Duren) Mentink. He attended Cedar Grove Schools. In 1954, he volunteered and served in the US Army from September 1954 to August 1956. On September 21, 1956, Ron was united in marriage to Ruth Neerhof in Cedar Grove. She preceded Ron in death on September 15, 2012.
Ron was a member of Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove and served as an Elder, Trustee, Sunday School and Bible Class teacher.
He served on the school board and as a boy scout leader. He enjoyed woodworking and making things for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. More than anything, Ron loved spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his two sons, Tedd (Terri) Mentink of Oostburg, and Tim (Rosemary) Mentink of Cedar Grove; son-in-law, David Johnson; five grandchildren Krystle (Luke) Mills, Karrie (Luke) Kaat, Derek Johnson, Alexandra and Alyssa Mentink; great grandchildren, Ellodie, Blayke, and Bowen Mills, Kayden, Kolten, Paxton and Paisley Kaat; and sister, Margaret (Tom) Sholta.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Lynn Johnson; parents; parents-in-law, Derwin and Mabel Neerhof; brothers, Paul Mentink, David (Connie) Mentink, and Tom Mentink; and brother-in-law, Derwin (Mary) Neerhof.
A celebration of Ron’s life will take place at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 1:00pm. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service by visiting wenig.life/RonMentink. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 11:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are appreciated in Ron’s name for Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund or Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
