Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Annville on May 15, 2025.
Ronald (Ron) Barry Mohn, 1934 to May 11, 2025. He was 90 years old.
Ron grew up in Pennsylvania. Ron developed his love of sailing and the beach. He graduated from
Penn State University with a degree in agricultural engineering. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Haddow in 1957. They were happily married for 67 years.
Ron spent most of his career working as an aeronautical engineer for the US Navy. He was involved with projects to develop ship board catapults, arresting gear and aircraft barricades, marking and lighting, expeditionary airfields and a system to winch helicopters down onto ships on the high sea. Most of his work life was spent at Lakehurst Naval Air Force Base but he also spent 18 months at the Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton in Washington state.
After his retirement he operated his own business providing handyman service for a few years.
They moved to Nebraska to assist with a church plant for 7 years and then moved to Lebanon, PA. He frequently said that he was from Lebanon but did not deal in any bologna.
He and Betty enjoyed camping all their life but when he retired they started a campground ministry called 'Preparing the Way of the Lord' where he shared about the Lord to those they came in contact with while camping.
He and Betty also ministered to the residents of American House in Lebanon. They sent birthday cards to all the residents and presented a program with puppets and music on holidays.
Ron and Betty enjoyed staying in Myrtle Beach, SC for many years after they returned to Pennsylvania for the month of February. Ron was called the 'minister' there. They reached out to all they came in contact with there as well.
Ron's primary passion in life was his faith. He was actively involved in the church, serving as an elder and a home group leader for many years. He shared his faith with everyone he met, always asking if he could pray for them. He was always interested in finding out about the people he came in contact with from waitresses to grocery clerks to people in the elevator with him. He was always excited if he had the chance to pray for them and touch their hearts.
He was a faithful and loving husband, married to Betty, celebrating their 67th anniversary in 2024. He was a supportive father to their four children, Cheryl, Ken, Bruce and Carolyn.
He enjoyed sailing, spending time at the beach, camping, model railroading, home modification and artistic painting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children Cheryl, wife of Ross Taylor, Kenneth Mohn and wife Joanna, Bruce Mohn, and Carolyn, wife of Mark Hildebrand; 14 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by one grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 10AM at Lifeway Church, 2230 Lebanon Valley Mall, Lebanon, PA 17042. A visitation will be held at 9AM until the time of his service.
