Ronald Abraham Kunane Moniz, 78, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Maui Memorial Medical Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on June 14, 1947, Ronald was a man whose life was rooted in family, music, service, and aloha. He dedicated his career to law enforcement, serving his community with strength and leadership. His commitment to protecting and serving others reflected the deep sense of responsibility he carried throughout his life.
Ronald had a true love for music. He enjoyed singing and playing music, bringing joy to family gatherings and creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who heard him. He also loved body surfing, traveling, and embracing the beauty of island life.
Above all, Ronald's greatest pride and deepest love was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his partner, Ester Guzon; his children, Ronald Harrington, Michelle Ka ala Mau-Moniz, Ranette Tacy Aulani Rogers, Kahealani Lovina Kekauoha Moniz, Vincent Moniz, and Monique Moniz; and he now joins in eternal rest his son, Theodore Joseph Nahakuali i Moniz.
He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Ronald is also survived by his brother, Wayne Kamanuokekai Ibarra, and reunited in heaven with his brother, Duane Kanoelehua Ibarra. He joins his beloved parents, Margaret Aulani Ibarra and Severo Ignacio Ibarra, in eternal peace.
Ronald will be remembered for his strong presence, his loving heart, his music, and the unwavering love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped shape and the countless lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
