Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory - Port ClintonRonald "Ron" Monnett, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2026.
He was born on April 6, 1941, in Toledo to Grant and Virginia (Bock) Monnett. Ron graduated from Macomber Vocational High School, where he studied printing. The skills he developed there led to a long and dedicated career at Owens Corning, where he worked until his retirement.
Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve during the late 1950s and early 1960s. On February 25, 1967, he married the love of his life, JoAn Monnett, just six months after they met on a blind date.
A devoted public servant, Ron gave more than 40 years as a volunteer fireman with the Bay Township Fire Department. He loved watching old westerns, following NASCAR races, and sharing meals at Jolly Rogers.
Above all, Ron was a family man. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Brenda) Monnett and Mark (Jenny) Monnett; his beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Heidi, Grant, and Raegan; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jeff (Sarah) Monnett. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAn; his parents; and his brother, Dale Monnett.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 12:00 pm at the Bay Township Hall, 4471 W. Fremont Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452. Memorial donations may be made to the Bay Township Volunteer Fire Department.
