Ronald Nelson Obituary

Ronald Nelson

February 9, 1938 - September 1, 2025

Ronald Nelson, a dedicated and inspiring figure, was born on February 9, 1938, in Steele, N.D. He passed away on September 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of humility and empathy that touched all who knew him.

Following High School he served for three years in the US Army. Ronald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was married to his devoted wife, LaVerna, on March 9, 1958, and their love story spans over six decades. Together they raised their children, Connie, Bryan, and Jerry, in a household filled with love and steadfast values.

Ronald's professional life was as remarkable as his personal one. He worked in the Federal Aviation Administration as an Aviation Inspector and later the Flight Standards Deputy Division Manager for the FAA Southwest Region. Prior to this, he showcased his skills as a mechanic and pilot.

Ronald's dedication to his occupation was evident in the numerous awards and recognitions he received before his retirement in 2004. Ronald's humble nature never allowed these accolades to overshadow his empathetic spirit or his commitment to his colleagues.

Despite his busy schedule, Ronald always found time to enjoy his hobbies. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family, who were his greatest source of joy.

Ronald is survived by his wife, LaVerna; his children, Connie, Bryan (Cheryl), and Jerry (Darla); his five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Homer Nelson, his brother, Jerome Nelson, and his sister, Helen Berg.

Services are under the direction of DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory. Ronald's life was an inspiring journey filled with dedication, humility, and empathy.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We encourage family and friends to share their memories of Ronald and upload photos to his memorial page as a way to celebrate his remarkable life.

Funeral Services will be held at DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, Mandan, N.D., Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11 a.m., with visitation the hour.
