A Funeral Service for Ronald "Ronnie" Olson of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00AM at Roseau Community Church. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ronald (Ronnie) Wade Olson was born November 04, 1935 in Badger MN, and passed away peacefully December 21, 2024 at Lifecare Medical Center, Roseau, MN. He was 89 years old. He was the son of Albin and Lyda (Grythe) Olson of Badger, MN.
Ronnie was a truck driver by occupation but his passion was farming. He left school at the age of 15 and began working for Archie Lee who farmed near his parents home. Later he worked at Peterson Builders. At 19 he left home to go to Montana to work for a grain farmer for a couple years. He enlisted in the army and spent two Christmases in Korea. While there he was a chauffeur for his company commander.
On October 19, 1957 he and Carol Erickson of Roseau were married, spending most of their years in the Roseau area.
After a short time working in the iron mines in Virginia, MN they returned to Roseau. He was hired by a grain/cattle farmer in Hamilton, ND. They moved back to Roseau in 1962 to work on a farm again. In 1963 he was hired by Stordahl Trucking to help out for the fall. He continued working for Stordahl /Penner for 23 years.
After that time he was hired by Kim Messelt and worked as a salesman at the Ford dealership. All the while he was trucking and at Messelts, he was farming his own land after work. When he quit working at Messelts he rented his land to the Amundson brothers and went to work for them. He worked for them until he was 80. Ronnie enjoyed farming and especially liked working with animals. He had a great rapport with his animals.
Ronnie was a hard worker and believed everything that needed to be done should be done right now and the right way. He liked vehicles and never had a dirty one.
Many family vacations were taken though out the years and after Carol retired, winter trips were taken each year to spend time with their children and families.
Ronnie was a longtime member of the Roseau Community Church.
