Ronald Dee Owen, 85, of Castleford, passed peacefully in his sleep at his home the evening of March 31, 2025. Ron sat down to rest in his favorite chair and drifted away from his ongoing battles with cancer to reunite with loved ones and friends.

Ron was born on December 28, 1939, and was the first-born child of Carter Dee and Marie Owen. Ron was soon joined by a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Janet. The CD Owen family spent Ron’s early years in Gooding. CD and Marie moved the family to the Buhl area to farm and operate a small dairy west of Buhl on the Lucerne Tract. Ron attended Deep Creek School and Buhl High School where he was a member of the class of 1958. Ron, Raymond, and Janet worked alongside their parents on the family farm where they all developed the Owen work ethic.

Shortly after graduation, Ron met Elizabeth Faye “Beth” Lewis. Ron and Beth married in 1959 and welcomed their first daughter, Marsha Maxine, in January of 1960. Ron elected to enroll in the United States Navy and Beth and Marcy soon joined him in Virginia. While stationed in Virginia, Ron and Beth welcomed a second daughter, Shannon Marie, to the family in May of 1962. Ron and Beth returned to Idaho and purchased the current family home and settled in Castleford. In September of 1965, their first son, Robert Dee, joined the family. Ron and Beth were blessed with twin sons, Richard Glenn and Randall Carter, in May of 1967. The family became complete in May of 1968 when a fourth son, Ronald Vern “Hoover”, was born.

The Owen eight along with other family members and friends spent many a weekend loading up in the family pickup and day tripping or camping throughout Southern Idaho. When not in the hills with their kids, Ron and Beth worked tirelessly to support their family. Ron and Beth were always happy when the Owen kids were able to spend their time with their friends playing in and around Castleford. The family dealt with tragedy in 1976 with the loss of Randy at the age of nine and the loss of Grandpa Carter Dee the same year. The family became closer and stronger as a result.

Ron farmed for years in the Castleford area for local farm families that he always considered dear friends. Ron took his dream job with Clark Ranches of Roseworth in 1977. Though he and Beth worked long hours and lived across Lilly Grade, they attended all their kids’ activities and sporting events. Ron and Beth and the boys moved back to the family home in Castleford in 1982 and Ron took a job with the Buhl Highway District where he worked until his “retirement”. Retirement was not really in his vocabulary, so Ron found additional work with Peterson Trucking, as a highway district fill-in, and later with his dear friends, Ron and Susie Jones.

Ron survived a heart attack and took many walks during his recovery. He later suffered a stroke and neared a complete recovery from that setback. COVID was not kind to Ron or Beth. This challenge and cancer took Beth from Ron and the family in December of 2022. Ron recently completed one cancer recovery and soon found out that a second challenge was in his body. Ron went through all the treatments in both sessions with a strong attitude and the drive to stay with his family. Ron finally realized that the quality of life he wanted was not attainable and he elected to move on to the next chapter and reunite with loved ones and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Carter Dee and Marie Owen; his in-laws, Leland “Pud” and Maxine Lewis; a sister-in-law, Joyce McCreery; his son, Randy; and his wife, Beth.

Ron is survived by his brother, Raymond (Marlyce) Owen; sister, Janet (Larry) Garner; sister-in-law, Leslie Gilham; brother-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Lewis; his children, Marcy (Lee) Cline, Shannon Owen, Rob (Marcy Brodine) Owen, Rich (Debbie) Owen, and Hoover (Kelly) Owen. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, TJ, Ashli, Chance, Casey, Amanda, Cader Dee, Brody, Addee Faye, Tanner, and Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Colin, Carson, Teylan, Waylon, Callen, Charlie, and Mackley; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Castleford High School Gymnasium, 50 Main Street, Castleford. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at Sunset Memorial Park, 2296 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.

Please join the family immediately following the Graveside Service for a Memorial Gathering at Jeans Park, Castelford.
